This Circular was issued on August 3, 2022, including some main contents as follows:
i) Section “2. The career orientation period” part IV of the Education Plan is amended and supplemented as follows:
- Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Literature; Maths; Foreign language 1; History; Physical education; National defence and security education; Experiential activities, career guidance; Local educational content.
- Selected subjects: Geography, Economic and legal education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Informatics, Music, and Fine Arts.
Students choose 4 subjects from electives.
- Elective subjects: Ethnic minority languages, Foreign languages 2.
Regarding the education duration: 1 lesson per day, no more than 5 lessons per session; 45 minutes each lesson. Encourage qualified high schools to teach 2 sessions/day under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.
ii) In Section “3. Social science education” Part V “Orientation on educational content” is amended and supplemented as follows:

- In grades 11 and 12, History focuses on learning topics and special topics in the history domain, such as political history, economic history, cultural history, military history, and social history, the interaction and integration of Vietnam into the region and the world,...; Geography focuses on numerous topics and special topics about the world and Vietnamese geography...
In particular, this Circular issued an Appendix amending and supplementing the content of the History subject in the General Education Program issued together with Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGDĐT. It consists of 08 main parts, such: as subject characteristics; program goals; requirements; educational content (Grades 10; 11; 12); education methods; assessment of educational outcomes;...
For example, in the section: Requirements for specific competencies, the Circular clearly states: Historical competence has the following components: historical research; historical awareness and thinking; application of knowledge and skills learned (specific manifestations of historical competence are presented in the attached Table.). As for assessing the ability to apply learned knowledge and skills, the Circular sets out requirements for learners' competencies such as Drawing historical lessons and applying historical knowledge to explain real-life problems, etc.
The Circular takes effect from August 03, 2022.
